We ship from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Nansha. Which method suits you depends on volume, your port's facilities and how much handling you are willing to accept.
Shipping methods
Container
One to four cars per 40ft high cube, lashed and chocked. Best protection, works into any container port, and the cars are sealed from our yard to yours. The default for one to four units.
RoRo
Driven on and off the vessel. Cheaper per unit at volume and faster to load, but the cars are handled by port staff at both ends and only serve RoRo-equipped ports.
Rail
Container by rail through Khorgos or Alashankou into Central Asia. Faster than sea for landlocked destinations and avoids two transhipments.
Break bulk
For large single consignments to ports without RoRo facilities. Quoted case by case.
Indicative transit times
| Region | Typical transit | Shipping methods |
|---|---|---|
| Africa | 28-40 days | Container (1-4 units) · RoRo · Break bulk |
| Middle East | 18-28 days | Container (1-4 units) · RoRo |
| Central Asia | 16-30 days by rail | Rail container · Road freight · Multimodal via Poti |
Sailing and rail time from South China. Excludes customs clearance at your end, which is the part that usually varies.
Shipping an electric vehicle
Lithium batteries are dangerous goods, and a car battery shipped in a car is handled under specific rules. We ship every unit at a state of charge between 30% and 50%, declare the battery on the dangerous goods documentation, and use carriers that accept EV cargo as routine. A quote that ignores this is a quote from someone who has not shipped one.
Insurance
CIF quotes include marine cargo insurance at 110% of invoice value. FOB quotes do not — cover from the ship's rail onward is yours to arrange. We will tell you which you are buying rather than leaving it in the small print.
